WHAT
IS CARTOMANCY
Cartomancy is the art of telling the
future with playing cards and has
been practiced for as long as playing
cards have been in existed. There
is certainly something very pleasing
is using ordinary, household objects
to spy into the future. They transcend
their habitual purpose and become
imbued with
a sense of mystery.
A
set of playing cards consists of four
suits of ten 'pip' cards card three
court cards. This adds up to fifty-two
cards. The suits are Diamonds, Hearts,
Spades and Clubs, which are connected
to the tarot suits of pentacles, Cups,
Swords respectively.
The three court cards are the jack
or knave, queen and king. Each one
has certain meanings and interpretations.

there are strong links between playing
cards, astrology and the divisions
of the year. There are fifty-two
cards in the deck just as there
are fifty-two weeks in the year.
The four suits are linked to the

seasons and the four astrological
elements.
Diamonds represent the Earth element
(Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), Spades
are the Air element (Gemini, Libra
and Aquarius), Hearts are the Water
element (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces)
and Clubs are the Fire element (Aries,
Leo and Sagittarius) each suit consists
of thirteen cards, which is the
number
of lunar months in a year. There
are twelve court cards in all, and
there are twelve months in a year
and twelve court cards in all and
there are twelve months in a year
and twelve signs of the zodiac.

HOW TO USE THEM ?

When
using a new set of playing cards,
give them a very good shuffle to
mix them up as much as possible.
It may help to place them on a flat
surface,
swirl them around with your hands
for several minutes and then riffle
the
deck once or twice to make sure
they are thoroughly shuffled.
There are different spreads in certain
way which allows you to understand
the mystery and the fate.
